There was an element of celebrity involved in Sunday's record-breaking $12.9 million sale of a 2007-08 Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Logoman card.

Matthew Allen, Kevin O’Leary and Paul Warshaw won the card through Heritage Auctions early Sunday morning with bidding that pushed past the previous most expensive card ever sold — the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 graded a “Mint-Plus” SGC 9.5 and dubbed the “finest known example” of that iconic card — by more than $300,000.

A basketball card featuring Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant sold for $12.932 million on Saturday, making it the most expensive ever sports card, according to the auction house which handled its sale.
