ドナルド・トランプ米大統領は22日、政府が米半導体大手インテルの株式ほぼ10％を取得すると表明した。苦境に立つインテルの将来を巡る、政府の2週間にわたる協議の結果だ。

Intelは米国時間8月22日、米政府が同社に89億ドル（約1兆3100億円）を出資することで合意したと発表した。1株当たり20.47ドルで購入し、出資比率は9.9％となる。

米政府はCHIPSおよび科学法 (CHIPS法)に基づき、インテルに支給予定の補助金の一部または全額を株式に転換することを検討しているとのこと。同法の下、同社に対して商業・軍事生産向けに109億ドルの補助金受給が決定されている。
