A recently discovered undersea metropolis in the Pacific Ocean has stunned scientists with its scale, unique structure, and potential implications for the origins of life. Known as the Kunlun system,
False catsharks, or Pseudotriakis microdon, are a species of “large,” deep-sea predators “with a patchy worldwide distribution,” the study said. Normally, these sharks are “uniform dark brown to blackish” in color.
The tiny carcasses were discovered during a routine beach survey by the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol in Atlantic Beach, just east of Jacksonville.
An Air France flight performed a turnaround over the Atlantic Ocean on Aug. 19 after the pilot reported a right engine failure. The Paris-bound flight departed JFK International Airport in the early morning on Tuesday.
