The Fayette County Jail could soon become one of the few facilities in the region to begin housing federal inmates.

A unanimous Fayette County Commission voted to enter into a contract with U.S. Marshals to house federal inmates at the county jail in Uniontown.

Thursday was a proud day for 22 inmates who graduated from the program, which takes them through educational courses for life skills, financial literacy, food services and other occupations.

Fayette County Sheriff James Custer had the vision of bringing the IGNITE program to the jail, and the program has been so successful, it's become an example to other jails across the country.
