From a warzone in Iraq to a Michelin-starred kitchen and a hit Netflix show, chef Sung Anh’s path to the top of Asia’s fine dining scene has been anything but ordinary.

Anh Sung-jae went to America as a 13-year-old, joined the Army, went to culinary school and opened a top restaurant in San Francisco. Now back home in South Korea, he’s a Netflix star.

“We have a Chinese chef for our Chinese menu, a Japanese chef for our Japanese menu and a Korean chef for our Korean menu,” he said through his interpreter and manager, Jinsoo Yun.
