The U.S. Air Force has decided to deny early retirement options for transgender service members with 15 to 18 years of service.
The Air Force said in May that transgender airmen who had served between 15 and 18 years could withdraw their request for voluntary separation pay and instead apply for early retirement.
This month, however, the Air Force backtracked, denying early retirement to airmen who already had their retirement agreements approved and were making plans for a life after military service.
