Toshiba's experimental extra-wide-screen ultrabook gets a Windows 8 software upgrade, but it turns the Toshiba Satellite U845W into a computer imperfectly matched for what Windows 8 has to offer.

Odds are that Toshiba will begin shipping the Toshiba NB205 or a similar netbook with Windows 7 before the end of the year.

The Toshiba NB205-N330 will be available to the public starting on October 22nd when Windows 7 is released.

Toshiba’s Satellite Radius 12 will be released in Full HD (1920 x 1080) or 4K (3840 x 2160) displays. Inside there’s Intel’s latest Skylake processors up to the Core i7, and up to 8GB of RAM.

By attempting to shoehorn an affordable 13-inch laptop-tablet into a crowded market, the Toshiba Satellite Click ends up as a compromised, underperforming mess.

Toshiba is an early adopter of the new “Windows 8.1 with Bing”, which comes at a lower cost but requires manufacturers to leave Microsoft Bing as the default search engine.
