If you wanted a Camaro IROC-Z in 1989 and had the money to buy it (and could also afford the insurance), the first engine you could order was the 5.0-liter V8.

The Chevy Camaro IROC-Z was an option that could be added to the Camaro Z/28. This pristine 5.7-powered example is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer.

A one-owner third-generation Camaro with less than 7k miles is up for sale for $34k. The 1987 Z28 got the optional Iroc-Z performance package and 5.0-liter TPI engine.

Now that it has been with us for a few years, we can truthfully say that we're happy with the car. The '89 Camaro IROC-Z does almost everything well, thanks to a long and tedious development program.
