Learn how to draw lines and line segments as editable shapes or fixed pixels in Adobe Photoshop. Draw lines as shapes (editable and scalable) or as pixels (fixed and not scalable) with the Line tool. Select Line tool from the shapes tool group in the toolbar.

Choose the color and width of the straight line in the Pen Tool Option Menu. Click on your canvas to create an Anchor Point, this will be the beginning of the straight line. Click to add another Anchor Point where you want the straight line to end. Photoshop will automatically create a line between the two anchor points.

In Adobe Photoshop 2021, you cannot use the line tool to make a line. The Pixels feature necessary to make the line was removed by Adobe and is grayed out. Launch Photoshop and open a new or existing document you'd like to add a line. To get to the line tool, click and hold the rectangle tool; once the menu pops up, select the line tool.

Photoshop automatically creates a line between the two anchor points. If you want a horizontal line, hold down the Shift key as you click. Step 4: Hit the Return key to end the path so that you don’t keep adding anchor points. Tips: The line you created is a Shape, not a Path. If you want to change the color, you should change the stroke color.
