Were you there for the fish? 🐟 On Oct. 24, 2025, AZGFD biologists drove 48 endangered Sonoyta pupfish from a private pond in Phoenix to the Biosphere 2 in Oracle, Ariz., where they were introduced to the Desert Stream to form a new "refuge" population. Refuge populations help save certain protected species from going extinct. This was the first time Sonoyta pupfish were stocked at the Biosphere 2, which is owned by the University of Arizona.
