Spiny soft shell # 25-8519 was released after a month and a half in care. Found lethargic in a pool of water by a caring Oklahoman, it had a fishing hook lodged in its long neck. Successfully removed by @wildcareoklahoma’s veterinary team during surgery, it remained in care while area sutured by our vet team healed. These unique aquatic turtles have a leathery, moderately flexible carapace and tubular snout in addition to an unusually long neck. Happy release day spiny soft shell! 📸 Paola Salaz
